Prepare Salesforce for Radius Connect

Radius Connect delivers current data from The Network of Recordᵀᴹ, so in order to use Connect and add contact and lead records, you need to make sure you've integrated Salesforce with Radius.

Who can use this feature?

  • Customers who purchase Radius Connect or Radius Prospector, which includes Radius Connect. Contact your Radius Customer Success Manager or email support@radius.com.
  • Customers who integrate Salesforce. Radius Connect requires Salesforce Enterprise Edition or higher.
  • Salesforce administrators can install Radius Connect and configure and assign Salesforce page layouts.
  • Radius Connect users require appropriate Salesforce permissions and field access.

Install Radius Connect 

Go to the Radius Connect page on the Salesforce AppExchange and follow the instructions you find there. You can install the package for all Salesforce users or for specific profiles. We recommend that you install Connect for all users. If you need to control user access, use page layout assignments instead. 

Customize Your Salesforce Page Layouts for Connect

Customize Salesforce to show Radius data within Salesforce and Salesforce1 on mobile devices. You can add Radius Connect on Account, Contact, and Lead page layouts. See your Salesforce documentation for more information on configuring page layouts.

  1. As a Salesforce Administrator, log in to Salesforce and go to Setup.

  2. Find the Account, Contact, or Lead object, and then click Page Layout.

    • In Salesforce Classic, object setup is under App Setup > Customize.

    • In Salesforce Lightning, object setup is under Object Manger.

  3. Create a section and call it Radius Connect. Select the 1-column layout. Drag and drop the section to where you want it to appear on the page.

  4. From the component menu, select Visualforce Pages. Drag and drop the object Connector (for example, Account Connector) into the Radius Connect section. 

  5. Open properties for the Connector and enter these options.
    Width: 100%
    Height: 300 px

  6. If your sales team uses the Salesforce1 mobile app, drag and drop the object SF1 Connector (for example, Lead SF1 Connector) into the section Mobile Cards.

  7. Open properties for the Connector and enter these options. 
    Width: 100%
    Height: 750 px

  8. Save your changes to the page layout. 

  9. If you're planning to use Radius Connect with other objects, repeat these steps for their page layouts.

Assign Salesforce Object and Field Permissions

So they can view Radius data in Salesforce, and add contact and lead records, every Radius Connect user needs at least Read, Create, and Update permissions for the Salesforce objects where you've set up Connect. For example, if you set up Connect to be used on Contact page layouts and your sales reps want to add contacts or leads to Salesforce, make sure they have Read, Create, and Write permissions for the Contact object.

Connect users also need field-level access in Salesforce for all fields on the objects where they'll use Radius Connect. 

Because different Salesforce orgs handle permissions and access differently, these instructions are general. And in most cases, object access and field permissions will already be sufficient for your sales reps to use.

Enable the Radius Duplicate Check Service Apex Class

When users try to add a contact or lead to Salesforce, Connect checks to make sure it's not a duplicate. If you use a profile for Connect access, you need to enable the Radius duplicate check service Apex class in that profile.

  1. As a Salesforce Administrator, log in to Salesforce and go to Setup.

  2. Open the detail page of the profile used by Connect users. Do not open the edit page.

  3. Click the Enabled Apex Class Access link.

  4. In the Enabled Apex Class Access related list, click Edit.

  5. From the Available list, select radius.Duplicate.Check.Service, then click Add to add it to the Enabled list.

  6. Save your changes.
