Facebook Integration FAQs

Review these FAQs for best success with the Radius Facebook Ads integration.

What’s the ideal size for a Facebook Custom Audience?

The minimum number of matched contacts you need to run an ad using a custom audience is 20. However, we recommend that your custom audience include at least 100 people to begin achieving delivery. Keep in mind, even with an audience of 100 people in size, the competition for News Feed space is highly competitive and you'll sometimes require several hundred contacts to achieve meaningful reach.

Does Facebook match to Business Pages or an individual’s profiles?

Facebook will match Radius contact information from a business record to match to an individual’s Facebook account that is associated with that business, not the business page. Radius will deploy the top phone number and email associated with a business record to Facebook. Facebook will match that to an individual’s Facebook account. The individual must have the business phone number or email address associated with their personal Facebook account for a successful match.

What data will Radius send to Facebook to match? Will Radius send multiple phone numbers and email addresses?

Facebook will only be able to match an email or phone number to someone if that person uses the same email and phone number to login to Facebook. Since it's not possible for you to create an account using the same email address or phone number as someone else, even if two people share an email or phone number, only one of those people could use it to create an account. Facebook would then match the contact email or phone number from the Radius Business Graph to identify a single Facebook account and add that account to a Custom Audience so it can be targeted with an ad.

What are typical match rates?

Match rates vary widely from customer to customer. Facebook’s benchmark match rate for Custom Audiences ranges from 5-40%. You can work directly with your CSM to execute effective Facebook deployments.

How do Radius and Facebook ensure that my data is secure?

Facebook uses a sophisticated process called ‘hashing’ to keep your customer data local and secure. Click here for more details.

When deploying New records from Radius to Facebook, will I use deployments even though my match rate is low?

Yes. You will use up the total number of deployments no matter the Facebook match rate. However, you will also receive a CSV with all the new records from that deployment, which can be uploaded to your CRM and targeted through other campaigns. For example, if you deploy 10,000 new records and Facebook matches 10%, you can run ads to the 1000 matched people associated with your target business that make up your Facebook Custom Audience, and upload all 10,000 to your CRM for other outbound campaigns.

How do I track Salesforce deployments and results of my Facebook campaigns?

To track deployments in Salesforce or your CRM, users will be required to take the following steps. We recommend uploading CSV to a Salesforce Campaign.

For New Records

  1. Deploy New records to Facebook.
  2. Download CSV from the email we send you.
  3. Upload the CSV to Salesforce or your CRM.

For Open, Won, and Lost Records

  1. Deploy Open, Won, and/or Lost Records to Facebook
  2. Deploy the same records again to a Salesforce Campaign or a CSV
  3. For CRM Uploader, upload the CSV back into your CRM

Salesforce customers that upload CSVs to a Salesforce Campaign will be able to visualize aggregate segment conversion metrics within the Performance dashboard.

Facebook offers robust reporting and tracking on interactions, budget, and conversions in their Ad Manager tools. We strongly recommend utilizing Facebook’s reporting capabilities to measure the success of ads targeted to any audience. View more on measuring results in Ads Manager.

How do I get started using Facebook Custom Audiences?

You’ll see the Audiences tab in the Facebook power editor. Depending on list size, each match typically runs and populates your custom audience within a few hours, so you can begin running ads the same day.

How many audiences can I create?

There’s no limit on the number of audiences you can maintain in your account. First, determine a messaging strategy that makes sense for your specific business objectives. Some audiences you create might be designed for specific campaigns; others might be valuable for many objectives.

How can I keep my audiences up to date?

You can add and remove people from your custom audiences at any time. When you add or remove people, the system typically updates within a few hours. Your ads will continue running in the meantime.

Can I see how many people in my audience like my Page?

In the ad creation tool, when you select a custom audience and then overlay Facebook targeting (ex: demographic, interest, people who like or don’t like your Page, etc.), you’ll be able to see the approximate reach of the combination you’ve chosen. If you want to see about how many people are already fans, simply target your audience plus people who like the Page.

What are the terms of use for custom audiences?

You can review and accept the data use terms directly in the power editor. When you create ads, the applicable ad guidelines, pricing and Facebook SRR terms apply.

What does Facebook do with my customer list?

Facebook never receives your customer list. The list of emails or phone numbers is hashed on your computer in power editor, and only the encrypted data is sent to Facebook’s servers. The hashes are used to make the match, and then they are all discarded whether they matched or not. Facebook doesn’t use the data for any other purpose. In this way, Facebook is able to find your ideal audiences for you without either company’s data leaving its respective servers.

How long does it take to sync with Facebook?

Upon deployment, the name of your Facebook Custom Audience will sync in near real-time. Matching between Radius records and Facebook profiles may take several hours per deployment. This is due to Facebook’s matching process.
